Bar Harbor

Welcome to our home town of Bar Harbor, Maine.  This small ocean village boasts beautiful landscapes like you have never seen before. Bar Harbor offers a plethora of ways to spend your days including hiking, shopping, kayaking, museums and whale watches, just to name a few. The Regency is just minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, giving you the best of both worlds. Bar Harbor also offers an incredible variety of cuisine and of course, as much lobster as you can eat!

Acadia

Acadia National Park contains over 120 miles of the most varied and beautiful hiking trails in the eastern United States, as well as 45 miles of carriage trails for biking throughout the park and the town of Bar Harbor. Mount Desert Island is home to this 100-year-old National Park, whose entrance is only about a mile from the Regency. We highly recommend making your way up Cadillac Mountain during your stay as it is the highest point on the North Atlantic seaboard and the very first place to view the sunrise in the United States between early October and early March.

Whale Watching

If you have never been whale watching, this is the place to do it. You will have the opportunity to see all different creatures- land and sea. The animals most often seen are Humpback, Finback and Minke whales, seals, otters, dolphins, porpoises, puffins and eagles. You will also get a chance to see some of Maine's famous lighthouses on your journey.

AtlantiCat is the newest high-speed whale watching vessel in Maine. With 360-degree rail-side viewing on all decks, everyone is guaranteed a front row seat to the action.

Cuisine

Maine cuisine is almost synonymous with seafood, and for a good reason! Traditional fare found in Bar Harbor includes steamers, mussels, clam chowder (pronounced chow-DAH), and of course juicy, buttery lobster. Wash all that goodness down with some famous local craft beers or a glass of wine from Bar Harbor Cellars and a slice of wild Maine blueberry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. No worries if seafood is not your favorite, you won't have to look too far for a juicy burger, the perfect cut of steak, or a variety of vegetarian options.
